Nobody wants to deal with an ACL injury – the average cost of ACL reconstruction surgery is $2,339.43 with insurance and the road to recovery can take months of physical therapy.

What you may not know is that ACL injury rates are two to 10 times higher in female athletes than in male athletes. So how do you avoid an ACL injury?

The Texas Sports Medicine Center, a certified SportmetricsTM provider, offers the ACL Injury Prevention Program to reduce athletes' risk of injury and enhance their performance.

The ACL Injury Prevention Program incorporates numerous drills to encourage proper form for jumping and landing during athletic activities. Jumping drills are used to teach the athlete to pre-position the entire body safely during acceleration or deceleration.

The selection and progression of exercises are designed for neuromuscular retraining beginning with simple jumping drills to establish correct form and building to more sport-like movements such as multi-directional, single-foot hops and plyometrics with an emphasis on quick turnover.

High-speed video is used to evaluate and measure the progress of jumping and landing techniques, running form and change of direction techniques.

ACL Injury Prevention Program Schedule

The program runs in two groups, June through August:

  • Group 1:
    • Video assessments: June 10-14
    • 6-week program: June 17-August 2
  • Group 2:
    • Video assessments: July 1-5
    • 6-week program: July 8-August 16

Sessions are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each session lasts one hour. The cost of attendance is $300.
